Tivoli Gardens is a famous amusement park and pleasure garden. The park opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world, after Dyrehavsbakken, also in Denmark. From the very start, Tivoli included a variety of attractions: buildings in the exotic style of an imaginary Orient: a theatre, band stands, restaurants and cafés, flower gardens, and mechanical amusement rides such as a merry-go-round and a primitive scenic railway. After dark, colored lamps illuminated the gardens. On certain evenings, specially designed fireworks could be seen reflected in Tivoli's lake. The park is best known for its wooden roller coaster, Rutschebanen, built in 1914, still operating today.

Town hall square is a heart of Copenhagen, a must see place. It's the arena for festivities and conserts, and the famous flee market on the weekends. Stroget street starts from the town hall square. Don't miss the unique clock on the Scandic Palace Hotel and the column with troubadours, memorial and museum of Andersen. Town hall courtyard is open for visitors. The bell tower of the Town Hall can be visited with the special tour.

Technically speaking Stroget isn't one street, but the chain of pedestrian streets and small plazas making the longest shopping promenade of Europe. It's the major must visit of Copenhagen. The leasury strall along the street, picking into the shops or stopping for a cup of coffee in a causy coffee shop is one of Copenhagen's greatest experience.

1,5 hour

Nyhavn means a New Harbour, is a 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district, one of most distinct areas of the city. It's famous for brightly coloured 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants. The canal harbours many historical wooden ships, which are defenitely worth seeing. Don't miss the WW2 memorial - a huge memorial anchor.

40 min

Amalienborg is the home of the Danish royal family. The palace is named after Amalia, the wife of Friederich the 3rd, who was the first one to live at this spot. It's unique because it isn't just a building, but a whole plaza, composed of the identical buildings, each named after diffirent kings of Denmark with Friederich 5th statue in the middle. The green enbankment in front of the palace complex had the great view on the contemporary Ekvipagemestervej opera theater.

20 min

The Little Mermaid at the seashore is something you shouldn't miss. Bases on Andersen's story character, she appeared here in the beggining of the 20th century and since then had become the symbol of Copenhagen and Denmark. She's sitting on the stone not far from the castle, observing with a little sadness the wide panorama of the bay.

Copenhagen Walking Tour offers you a privilege of flexibility and dictating your own pace.  There is nothing better than popping into a side street and satisfying your curiosity as you stroll along with your local guide. We will start our day with a pick-up at your hotel and thereafter make our way to the most outstanding sights of the Danish capital.

We will not miss the playful Tivoli Gardens next door to the Town Hall Square. Then continue on the longest and most enjoyable pedestrian street of the world, Stroget. The wide and lively lane will lead us onto a charmingly decorated Hojbro Square with opportunities to tingle your taste buds with local pastry and traditional open-top sandwiches or please your senses with fine quality design shopping.

After a short break for some free time we will continue along the harbor front over the King´s New Square towards Nyhavn area.  An old harbor once inhabited by brassy sailors is today an elegant canal with delightful boats and swans calling it their home. The unparallel atmosphere of Nyhavn has made it a popular coffee shop and a desired entertainment spot in the city.

As Denmark is a country of real princes and princesses, we will also step further into the royal world and admire the exterior of the Amalienborg Castle, residence of the Danish Royal Family. On the way to the adorable symbol of Copenhagen, the Little Mermaid, we are able to enjoy the modern Opera House just across the harbor.

04:00

After witnessing how the Danes have beautifully managed to pour their royal heritage and modern design into a love for celebrated architecture world-wide, it is time to end the tour with an opportunity to continue exploring on your own.

Should you need to return to your ship that afternoon, your guide will take care of the necessary instructions to the shuttle bus stop.
