  • Stutthof Concentration Camp
  • Malbork Castle

Stutthof was a Nazi German concentration camp built in a secluded, wet, and wooded area near the small town of Sztutowo 34 km (21 mi) east of the city of Gdańsk in the former territory of the Free City of Danzig. The camp was set up around already existing structures after the invasion of Poland in World War II, used for the imprisonment of Polish intelligentsia. The actual barracks were built in the following year by hundreds of prisoners enslaved in specialized commandos. Stutthof was the first camp outside German borders, in operation from 2 September 1939, and the last camp liberated by the Allies on 9 May 1945. More than 85,000 victims died in the camp out of as many as 110,000 inmates deported there.

The Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork, located in the Polish town of Malbork, is the largest castle in the world measured by land area. It was originally built by the Teutonic Knights, a German Roman Catholic religious order of crusaders, in a form of an Ordensburg fortress. The Order named it Marienburg (Mary's Castle). The town which grew around it was also named Marienburg. In 1466, both castle and town became part of Royal Prussia, a province of Poland. It served as one of the several Polish royal residences, interrupted by several years of Swedish occupation, and fulfilling this function until Prussia claimed the castle as a result of the First Partition of Poland in 1772. Nowadays, the castle hosts exhibitions and serves as a museum.

Time Description
Meeting time: Most tours start at 09:00 unless specified otherwise by your manager after booking.
00:00 - 00:10 This tour is recommended for all returning visitors to Gdansk, who have already been to the Old Town. The tour takes you to two most popular places in the area - Malbork Castle and Stutthof Comcentration Camp.

Meet your professional tour guide  outside the main port gate and start your exploration.

You will first head to Sztutowo, where Stutthof Concentration Camp is lcoated which was in operation from September 2, 1939 and the last camp liberated by the Allies only on May 9, 1945. On your tour, you will see what is left from the camp, visit remaining barracks, gas chamber, Crematorium and the Monument to all the victims, with ashes from the Crematorium. Although not much is left from the actual camp these days, as Nazis tried to destroy evidence as much as they could , this tour is an eye-opening experience for all first timers, and a hour spent in mourning for those, who had lost their relatives and friends.

After Stutthof you will head South towards Malbork,  a small town that was founded by Teutonic Knights in the 13th century in the honour of Saint Virgin Mary (German name for Malbork is Marienburg). Under continuous conctruction for almost 230 years, Malbork  became the largest BRICK castle  complex in the world, and is actually three castles combined in one another. Malbork is considered to be the most impressive of its kind in entire Europe and also listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will tour the Inner castle with it's numerous halls and corridors, visit the most important rooms (like Assembly room, Dining Hall, Kitchen and of course Toilet gallery). You will learn about life during middle ages, the struggles people had (How do you heat such a huge castle?), what they ate, how they entertained themselves and so much more.
This place is a great expoloration possibility for children and their parents, it will bring stories to life and will become a lasting memory. Please be aware that there are extremely many steps to climb, as well as cobblestones to walk, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
07:00 At the end of the castle tour you will get a chance to have a short lunch break at a local cafe / restaurant, located right in the castle (pre-booking recommended, so please ask your guide to do that for you), and then will set off back to the port,.
