St. Petersburg Open – the famous tennis tournament being held in the city on Neva

The biggest Russian tennis tournament is back to the Northern capital! St. Petersburg Open, a tennis competition with nearly 1 million USD prize fund, is ready to hit the ball in the middle of September.

This year, organizers promise a great sport show to be enjoyed by tennis lovers inside the Sibur Arena. The current champion of St.Petersburg Open, Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia, is coming back to have a face-to-face with the 8th racket in the world – Dominik Thiem from Austria. Tim is the only tennis player to beat Rafael Nadal during the last two years. However, Nadal has won during the last Rollan Garros in the summer of 2018.

St. Petersburg open 2018 is also a remarkable tennis event for the admirers of Mikhail Youzhny who has decided to bid his career farewell during this competition. Mikhail used to be ATP World Ranking’s number 10 back in 2010, whereas currently he holds the 105th position.

Saint-Petersburg Open will also welcome “Russian Troika” (Russian Trio) to its courts. Karen Hachanov, Andrey Rublev & Daniil Medvedev from Russian National Tennis team will fly to the city on Neva directly from Russia-Belarus Davis cup match. At the moment there are 21 players in the main tournament grid set & ready to play in September here in Russia.
