Gamla Stan or The Town Between the Bridges is Stockholm's old town, located on Stadsholmen island. This is the oldest part of the city, dating to the 13th century, so Gamla Stan is a labyrinth of the charming narrow streets with old houses, numerous restaurants, and souvenir shops. The Royal Palace, Nobel Museum, Stortorget square, and many other sites are hidden inside the Gamla Stan. Old town is an excellent place for the walk when you can feel the spirit of the medieval city. You can find no transport on the Gamla stan, but the island is tiny, it takes no longer than 10 minutes to cross in any direction.

The Royal Dramatic Theatre is Sweden's national stage for "spoken drama," founded in 1788. Around one thousand shows are put on annually on the theatre's eight running stages. The theatre's acting school, Dramatens elevskola, produced many actors and directors who would go on to be famous, including Gustaf Molander, Alf Sjöberg, Greta Garbo, Vera Schmiterlöw, Signe Hasso, Ingrid Bergman, Gunnar Björnstrand, Max von Sydow, and Bibi Andersson. The theater is located on the spectacular embankment, not far from Djurgården.

The Royal Palace is located on the spot of the Kronor Castle - Stockholm's first building. It's the residence of the current king of Sweden and his family. The palace can be visited with the pre-booked tour. Of interest are the Hall of State, the Royal Chapel, the Treasury with the Regalia of Sweden, the Tre Kronor Museum located in the remaining cellar vaults from the former castle, the National Library of Sweden. The daily ceremony of the changing of the guards is organized at noon in the Outer Courtyard of the palace.

Skansen (the Sconce) is the first open-air museum and zoo in Sweden and is located on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. You can visit a full replica of an average 19th-century town, in which craftsmen in traditional dress such as tanners, shoemakers, silversmiths, bakers, and glass-blowers demonstrate their skills in period surroundings. There is even a small patch growing tobacco used for the making of cigarettes. There is also an open-air zoo containing a wide range of Scandinavian animals, including the bison, brown bear, moose, grey seal, lynx, otter, red fox, reindeer, wolf, and wolverine.
